“Deep Purple in Rock“ is the fourth studio album by the hard rock band Deep Purple. It is also the first studio record of the second set (Mk II). The album was a great success, ranking fourth in the UK charts and becoming a milestone in the history of rock music. The record is literally a geyser of raw rock creativity and uncompromising hardness. From the very first seconds, he leaves no doubt in the audience what this will be about.

The introductory wild “Speed King“ is an indisputable cut, but it is completely natural, uncalculated, self-evident. The album offers other key moments than just in terms of the biography of Deep Purple, but also in terms of rock music as such. These include, for example, the masterfully successful “Child In Time“ or the ingenious riff decorated with “Into The Fire“. In Rock is simply the cornerstone.

After satisfying the Lord' s delight in classical music with a previous record, the band returned to the rock with a new album. But the first tones of the opening track “Speed King“ suggested that it would not be a return to proven techniques, but that the band would open a new, musically much harder chapter with it.

The second song “Bloodsucker“ still gives us time to breathe before the storm comes in the form of a ten-minute song “Child in Time“, which became the royal performance of the new Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan. Also, the following, almost eight-minute song “Flight of the Rat“ gives enough space for Gillan' s vocal speech and demonstrations of Blackmore and Lord' s playing mastery. Although the album concludes with two more modest pieces, “Into the Fire“ and “Living Wreck“ and a predominantly instrumental track, “Hard Lovin ' Man“, this LP is still one of the major records in history.

Deep Purple is an English rock band that was founded in Hertford in 1968. The band combined classical music, promoted mainly by Jon Lord, with hard rock motifs promoted by Ritchie Blackmore.

The combination of these two types of music appealed to young listeners of the first half of the 1970s. Deep Purple was one of the best rock bands at the time, and their best records and most famous and successful concert performances also date from this period.

Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are considered pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although they themselves have never considered themselves a heavy metal band.
