Depths

The thriller The Abyss is the third instalment in the thrilling Black Ice series by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir

In a recycling centre in Reykjavik, a skeleton is found and exhumed, which appears to have been buried in the ground for many years. Police officers Týr and Karó are not assigned to the case but are asked to help with a neighbourhood dispute that has escalated to dangerous proportions. Before long, however, they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation.
Meanwhile, a young cook, Gunndís, decides to follow in the footsteps of her late father and takes a temporary job on board a large fishing boat. When she finds a book that belonged to her father, which should be at the bottom of the sea, she begins to fear for her life.
Although Týr and Karó don't realise it at first, all the events are connected by a terrible accident many years ago, when a fishing boat caught fire at sea and sank into the depths of the ocean with its crew trapped inside.
