When I first sat down in the dialysis chair, I thought my life was over. I was afraid of the needles, I was afraid of the silence between the alarms, I was afraid I would never have the strength to write again.

And then you came along. The doctors who explained what was happening and never tired of answering my questions. The nurses who held my hand when the needle wouldn't go in. All of you who smiled at me, even when you were tired yourselves.

Thank you. Thank you for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you for bringing back my joy of writing. And thank you for showing me that there can be hope even in dialysis – and that I can pass it on to other patients through my stories.
