Dirty work

Fast cars, sharp guys in Italian blocks, a light girl on every corner, and the ubiquitous music of barking machine guns and wailing police sirens. Just gangster America as you know it from the old movies. But something is different. Ransom collectors, drug dealers, but also hackers, ruthless Cold War politics and the oil crisis, Charlie Parker is all over the place. Formerly a top in fine electronics work, now just a pawn in gang wars. He has to pay for every day of his life: the blood he spills, the piece of his soul he loses every time he pulls the trigger.

Follow his struggle in a series of short stories set in a tumultuous period on the brink of nuclear war. And if you have the courage, take a glimpse into a far more joyless future.

Revised Dirty Work⁺ contains two short stories. In one, soft white snow falls softly and bells tinkle gently in the distance, in the other, the last leaves of the tree of knowledge fall.
