The popular series of historical mysteries The Sinful People of the Kingdom of Bohemia continues with The Dragon Necklace.
During a lavish celebration, which Jaroslav of Sternberk organizes at his castle, his beautiful niece Elška, the wife of Drslav, the Purgrave of Vever, disappears. This provokes ridicule among the guests because she has no reputation as a virtuous wife, but her husband seeks out Oldrich of Chlum and, with tears in his eyes, asks him for help. He believes that his wife Elška did not run away, but was kidnapped.
Soon after, the troubadour who had courted her the previous evening is found murdered. The company blames Drslav for his death. Everything would have seemed like a banal story of the revenge of a cheating husband, if Oldřich of Chlum had not found proof among the troubadour's belongings that this was a most mysterious affair.
