The dragon sleeps

Some secrets are best left forgotten

The two-time winner of the Jiří Marek Award for the best detective novel returns to the scene with the character of criminologist Josef Bergman. In her seventh novel featuring the popular hero, Michaela Klevisová takes readers to Southern Bohemia, to places that are only seemingly peaceful. But beneath the surface, a danger lurks that is best left undisturbed…
Fourteen years ago, in a remote South Bohemian village, something happened that Eliška's mother never wanted to talk about again. Now an adult, Eliška returns to understand the events of the past. But after her arrival, a young woman disappears and another is murdered. The connection of the crime to an old unsolved case eventually brings Josef Bergman to the scene. During his search for the murderer, the Prague criminologist discovers that the locals are hiding a dark past from him, as well as their own skeletons in the closet.
