Duel
The duel between two great friends, Jan Měšťák and Miloš Zapletal, is above all an interesting dialogue on a wide range of life topics. These include, among other things, childhood, work, love, health and ageing. They do not shy away from delicate topics such as infidelity, marital break-ups or sex. They often hold different opinions and a real duel often takes place between them, during which they pull out even the heaviest artillery. Their occasional arguments are both serious and comical. Miloš Zapletal reminisces about his professional life and his no less dramatic personal life, which included break-ups with women, including three wives, the premature deaths of those closest to him, a ban on working in the media, accusations and almost imprisonment for sedition against socialism. Jan Měšťák reveals stories from his profession as a plastic surgeon, including the publicly controversial operations on women's breasts, as well as the complexity of operations on patients after accidents or cancer. For many years, he served as an expert judge in Zapletal's Miss pageant, where they often clashed in their views on female beauty. The text is accompanied by illustrations by Svatopluk Zapletal.
