Earthquake: Finale (2xCD) - CD

The album Zemětřesení by Jiří Schelinger has finally been completed in the form it was originally intended to be released and brought to the final stage. In addition, it is supplemented by the thirteenth composition Světlonoš, in which Schelinger's never published melody was lyrics by the music critic and publicist Roman N. Zahrádka to explain the message of the album, which with its timeless content has turned the head of many a fan of the legendary singer. The universality of his message is valid in every age, even more so now, when we are experiencing a period of upheaval and uncertainty and when we need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some may be surprised by the final treatment of the album based on the transformation of the singer's soul, which speaks to us from another world and warns us of the pitfalls of time and the possible loss of freedom. Especially as he reveals the reasons for Schelinger's demise and the behind-the-scenes moves that led to his untimely death. This is what makes the concept of the album extraordinary in Czech terms, as it has never been used publicly in the Czech Republic before. But what would the record mean without the quartet of Djelmo - Doležal - Doležal, jr. - Smetáček and other musical guests is obvious. Without Dodo Dolezel's passion for the cause, it would never have been possible to record a comparable equivalent of the album that was to become a groundbreaking work of Czech hard rock, and the exciting juxtaposition of Jiri Schelinger's and Mladen Djelmo's voices gives the recording a stamp of pure quality. It conveys an atmosphere of darkness in which free creation had to be bought with many concessions, but in this case the ultimate price was paid. In that, the legacy of Earthquake is unquestionable, and it's up to the fans to decide what to do with its message.

WHO: The Earthquake Project was formed in 1992 based on a fan vote. The final cast consisted of Aleš Brichta, Vlasta Henych, Miloš Dodo Doležal and Štěpán Smetáček. As a tribute to Jiří Schelinger, in 1993 they released the album Zemětřesení (Earthquakes) with songs that the singer had been preparing for the album, which he did not complete due to his untimely death. There was a lineup change for Earthquake 2. Doležal and Smetacek were accompanied by Doležal Junior on bass guitar and singer Mladen Djelmo. Perhaps thanks to his rough-and-tumble voice, hardly distinguishable from Schelinger's, but also to the harder sound and overall darker atmosphere, the "two" was closer to what the original Earthquake by Jiri Schelinger in 1980-81 might have looked like.
