Eliane Elias: Made In Brazil (2015) - CD

Pianist, singer and composer Eliane Elias is returning to the recording studios of her native Brazil after more than three dacades. The result is an album with the distinctive title Made In Brazil, which was released under the Concord Jazz label.

In the latest Made In Brazil project, we find the name Eliane Elias registered under the title of producer, lyricist, composer, arranger, pianist and singer: “I' m absolutely immersed and involved in every detail of the recording process, from the birth of the idea to its completion, through all aspects of the creation, until the album reaches the audience,“ explains Elias.

In addition to the double bass co-producers of the album, a gray eminence from the Pat Metheny Group named Steve Rodby and Eliana' s partner Marc Johnson, Elias recruited - as usual - domestic Brazilian musicians: Marcelo Mariano - bass guitar
Marcus Teixeira - guitar
Roberto Menescal - guitar
Edu Ribeiro - percussion instruments
Rafael Barata - percussion instruments
Mauro Refosco - percussion
Marivaldo dos Santos - percussion

Special guests include singer Mark Kibby and the vocal band Take 6, Eliana' s daughter Amanda Brecker, a leading Brazilian R & B star named Ed Mott and important composer of the new boss Robert Menescal. The orchestral parts were arranged by Rob Mathes and recorded in the legendary London studio Abby Road with the London Philharmonic.

Among the twelve tracks of the album, we can find six of Eliana' s original songs and compositions by Ara Barroso, Robert Menescal and, of course, by Antônio Carlos Jobim. Eliane Elias deliberately included three generations of Brazilian composers in the composition repertoire: “But it' s not a retro recording,“ explains Elias, “the music of the album is very modern and contemporary, with the tradition and authenticity of Brazil. It' s the music of the world with Brazilian DNA
