In medicine, the current emphasis worldwide is on the safety of the patient and the entire healthcare operation - primum non nocere.
In acute situations, quick orientation in the emerging issue and finding a timely solution are necessary. This guide, which is the first Czech publication of its kind, can help with this, although similar " cookbooks" are common, especially in the Anglo-Saxon world. Alphabetically arranged chapters - including chapters dedicated to pediatric patients - provide clear and concise instructions for dealing with critical clinical situations that may arise in the operating room. The text, organized in a series of headings, guides the user step by step to manage a given life-threatening condition without unnecessary delays. Finally, the publication is supplemented with general information and basic diagrams of emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The text leaves space for adding telephone numbers and other important details of a specific workplace. The content and form of processing correspond to similar foreign texts and are fully in line with the recommendations of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and the Czech Society of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care Medicine.
