The audiobook The Emperor of Nihon-Jin is the tenth installment of the successful fantasy series featuring the frontiersman's apprentice.
Horace would be sent as a special messenger to the emperor's residence. His war mission had begun months ago, and Horace should have been back long ago, but he had not yet arrived and had not sent a single message about his situation. Horace is very capable and can take care of himself, but his friends still can't help worrying about his safety. Their restlessness is heightened by rumours of an uprising of a cruel sect of sandjis, instigated by a treacherous courtier. They want to overthrow the rightful ruler of the country.
No longer willing to sit idly by, Evanlyn sets off with Halt, Alyss and Will, determined to help her friend Horace and find out what's going on in Nihon-jin. Horace, however, is more involved in internal politics than they would expect and now he and Will must face a highly trained sect of sandzis. Evanlyn and Alyss stop their petty disputes and together they go to ask for help for the Emperor from the fierce warriors of the mountains to the north.
