In virtual reality, nothing is real. Fake orcs pretend to fight fake elves. Priests offer blessings on a production line. Mages defeat their enemies with digital illusions of combat spells.
Yet every game is just part of something much bigger. Human nature does not change. People will always find a way to exploit or even harm others, even if it leads to personal loss or even death in real life.
I am John Doe, a necromancer and keeper of the dead. But that is just my in-game character. Just an illusion. In reality, I'm playing detective, on the trail. And the worst part is, the interests of my employers are not limited to the game itself…

Pavel Kornev
He broke through as a writer in 2005 with the novel Led, which is the first part of the Pŕíhraničí cycle, and in 2006 he received the Sword Without a Name award from the Alfa-kniga publishing house. This science fantasy series became his most popular work and has also been published in Polish, for example. In addition to this, he has also written the Exorcist cycle, the City of Autumn, and several standalone novels and short stories. He writes mainly action prose: science fantasy or fantasy with detective, steampunk or post-apocalyptic elements. With the Pilgrim of the Dead series, he expanded into the new LitRPG genre. Pavel Nikolaevich Kornev was born in 1978 in Chelyabinsk, Russia, and graduated from a university with a degree in economics. He is now a full-time writer.
