A crazy carousel full of surprises and humour is spun by a girl with an angelic face and devilish ideas.
Few people don't know at least the film version of the humorous story, which revolves around robbery and courtship, and in which slowly everyone impersonates someone else. In the castle inhabited by the family of the Záhorský factory, an Italian count, a charming secretary and a capable secretary, who are neither count, secretary nor secretary, take refuge under various pretexts. Behind the back of the real ruler of the household, the strict Mrs. Emilia, and with the willing participation of her mischievous niece Eliška, a situation comedy full of unexpected twists and turns begins to unfold, centred on the mischievous Eva, who lives in the neighbourhood with her older brother and kindly aunt. Despite the numerous misunderstandings and unfortunate coincidences, however, the wacky story moves towards its inevitable happy ending.
The most famous prose of the successful author of humorous novels has deservedly received many editions and its film version belongs to the golden fund of Czech cinema.
"The author (. ) builds on situational and linguistic comedy, on the characterization of distinctive figures (naughty children, crazy girl, unconventional grandmother, overbearing nanny, an unlucky bachelor) and uses with exaggeration not only the traditional schemes of the chosen genre (sharp plot twists, disguises, confusion of persons), but also techniques inspired by the cinematic grotesque (. )."- Blanka Hemelíková and Pavel Janáček, Dictionary of Czech Literature after 1945
"The stories about mad and emancipated girls with a heart of gold are often enriched with detective plots and situational and linguistic comedy (. ). Love themes also permeate the author's humorous prose, in which the inspiration of English literary humour is evident (. )."- Marie Uhlířová and Stanislava Mazáčová, Lexicon of Czech Literature 4/II
