Everything that connects us

The audiobook Everything That Connects Us offers a glimpse into the world of the Vietnamese community in our country through the lens of the personal story of the author - a Slovak Vietnamese woman named Kvet. There were identity problems at her birth, as she was given an incorrect birth number. Maybe it was her Vietnamese name: Hoa Nguy? n Th?. Today everyone calls her Flower. She was born in Slovakia, has Slovak citizenship, lives here fully, participates in public affairs, thinks in Slovak and sees her future in this country. She is Slovak on paper, but she has to defend this position all her life.

Her story is the story of many girls, Boys, women and men, who came to Slovakia for various reasons - as economic migrants, war refugees, because of family or studies. He talks openly about living in a closed community, about the search for identity between two so very different cultures, about food and customs, about racism and friendship.

"I often ask myself who I would be if I had not been born in Slovakia. Would my family in another country also have an Asian bistro or clothing store? Would we also have so few friends? Would I have a better relationship with my sister? Would I have bothered with racism anyway? Would I be an artist in that life in another country? I will never know because I was born in Slovakia. "

"On paper I am Slovak, but I have to make sense of this fact all the time. "
