Far Away - DVD

Armando, a well-established man in his fifties, spots Elder, a troubled young man struggling to get by on the fringes of society. What begins as street prostitution soon evolves into a taciturn and volatile relationship, in which both men try to overcome their initial distance and the scars of their pasts.

In his debut, director Lorenzo Vigas works with deliberate detachment, an elliptical narrative, and the impressive backdrop of the Caracas periphery. The tumultuous relationship thus becomes a disquieting sequence of unspoken fragments, whose power lies precisely in the distance the creator maintains from his characters. This unconventional romance about a pair of men separated by a chasm of age, social status, and life experience won the Golden Lion at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.
