While out for an evening stroll near her new house in Blackheath, Detective Erika Foster finds herself at a crime scene. The brutally murdered woman is Vicky Clarke, who ran her own true-crime podcast.
After Erika joins the murder investigation, she learns that Vicky was working on a new episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, stalking them for a long time before breaking into their homes in the dead of night. When Erika discovers that all of Vicky's notes and audio recordings disappeared from her flat at the time of her murder, it becomes clear that Vicky was just one step away from unmasking the attacker, who killed her to avoid being exposed and caught.
But then comes a shock, and Erika has to reconsider everything she thought and knew about Vicky. With limited clues and almost no evidence, she must find the killer before he strikes again.
