Fifty years a mannequin
She wanted to become a tank driver, but instead of going to the military school in Milovice, she accidentally arrived in Prague, where she was offered a job as a mannequin right on the street. Marta Pospíchalová soon became one of the most sought-after models in socialist Czechoslovakia, travelled around the world, and was given roles in film and theatre. Her memoir is like a walk through the cultural scene of the second half of the twentieth century. She was acquainted with a number of famous and influential personalities, she was a partner of Miloš Kopecký, she was friends with Jan Werich, Karel Gotts and Věra Chytilová. In addition to her social life, we also get a glimpse into her private life and the backstage of the fashion industry of the time, and there are many funny stories connected with her outspokenness. The fascinating story of the woman who was the longest-running model in the country takes the reader back to her childhood in the Moravian town of Velehrad during the war and her adolescence in post-war Czechoslovakia, which culminated in a fateful train journey that gave her life a new direction.
