This extensive collection of informational and educational films from 1948 to 1959 reflects the changes in Czech society during the 1950s, both in its work habits and leisure activities. The collection includes works by renowned directors such as František Vláčil, Ladislav Rychman, Jiří Menzel, and Břetislav Pojar, showcasing a wide range of techniques and forms from documentary footage and staged drama to animation, propaganda, and advertising. Most of these films are reaching audiences for the first time since their original release.

These films were often unfairly overlooked and unjustly condemned, considered an insignificant part of our cinematic heritage and cultural and social history. Although they are utilitarian films serving an educational and promotional purpose, they demonstrate various filmmaking approaches that combine partially entertaining, partially educational, partially informative, and partially promotional methods. They document the trends of the era, show the successes of our athletes, offer a glimpse into the lives of ordinary people, and explore topics like healthy living, fashion, and housing.
