Fragile truces

Only yesterday Ema was dancing the samba in the fountain at Karlák, today she is tamely sipping contryhel tea and finds herself in a world where dreams of a perfumed nursery collide with glasses of murky urine and the coldness of gynaecological mirrors. Conception then triggers a cycle of unstoppable vomiting - a delirium in which the skeletons in the closet come to life. Especially those related to her Indian past. This is Emma's secret: that she is not pregnant for the first time... The book describes the thorny journey of motherhood and challenges the idea that pregnancy is the happiest time in a woman's life. He chronicles in detail the struggle with hyperemesis gravidarum, contributing to the endless discussion about abortion. "Portraits of happy mothers flood social networks and give the impression of the most beautiful phase of a woman's existence. The image of a noble pregnancy is challenged by Michaela Štěchová in her novel "A Fragile Truce." "The physical aspect stands out significantly from the story. It is literally tangible, as if the author was reporting on it just after the retreat of her own accompanying phenomena. If the target group were members of the opposite sex, the novel could non-violently but forcefully convey to them an experience they can never have." - Kristýna Skalníková, Novinky.cz Michaela Štěchová: Fragile Truce| Read by Anita Krausová| Directed by Kateřina Višinská | Sound and editing by Kate Hamsíková | Mastering by Štěpán Škoch | Music by Markéta Ptáčníková| Filmed in All Senses Production s. r. o. | Cover Nikola Janíčková Take Take Take Take | Published by Euromedia Group, a. does - Témbr, May 2025.
