From My Life - DVD

This biographical film about the Czech national composer Bedřich Smetana focuses on important periods of his life and especially on his extensive musical output. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Václav Talich, brought Smetana's compositions to life and our best soloists recorded the opera excerpts. Even though the film may seem naive nowadays, it does not change the fact that the scenes from Smetana's operas Braniboři v Čechách, The Bartered Bride, Dalibor and Libuše are still very impressive.
Václav Krška for this film in 1955 at the XVI. IFF Venice won a medal.
