From the life of insects
The allegorical play From the Life of Insects has been a classic of Czech theatre for almost a century. This timeless comedy drama by the Čapek brothers in three acts describes human qualities (mostly negative) demonstrated in characters from the insect class. All the images in the game are connected by a certain Wanderer, a human protagonist who at the beginning gets angry that people are offended by being addressed as " human", even though they are nothing else. He then decides to treat them like insects, which sets the tone for the rest of the performance.
The 1922 screenplay still regularly appears on compulsory and high school graduation reading lists and should therefore be a must-have in the library of any Czech reader.
