From the Robokat Diaries 2 - The Process of Change

A giant transport robot helps a security unit pretend to be human? This really needs to work...

Dr. Mensah gave Robokat his freedom and a plan was born in his awakened mind. He goes to the station where he supposedly massacred most of his human clients before his memory was partially erased. And they'll find out what it was really like. But the long-distance transport on a research ship - empty and controlled by a robot - does not go as he had hoped, involving solitude, peace and dozens of hours spent watching his favourite TV shows. The transit robot named ART turns out to be a very bored and rather insistent companion, who surprises the only passenger with his multilingualism and curiosity. But you simply can't ignore someone who is driving your ship and can easily penetrate your security system. And so Robokat is forced to share with him not only his rich video library, but also the motives and goals of his journey. Eventually, he agrees to ART's suggestion to slightly alter his physical configuration, giving him a new identity and making him more like a mere enhanced human. Only later does he realise that it will now be much harder to pretend he is not a human being...

They wrote about the book:

The Process of Change is another excellent book with an engaging story and great characters (especially the non-organic ones), where everything is packed into a compact whole with minimal wasted space.

Robokat continues to develop as a character in interesting ways, and his sarcasm (often directed at expressions of human stupidity) brings a welcome amount of humour to the story.
