Getz Apartment: Apartment Getz Bossa Nova Years (5x CD) - CD

Stan Getz (2. February 1927 - June 6, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist. Thanks to his warm, soft and lyrical tone, he was one of the most influential jazz saxophonists of the 20th century.

He began his musical career in 1943, and shortly thereafter played in the orchestras of Stan Kenton, Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. In the years 1947-1949 he performed with the Woody Herman Orchestra, where he was one of the Four Brothers - a music section consisting of three tenor saxophones and one baritone saxophone.

In the fifties he was one of the most famous cool jazz musicians. At the time, he was recording with Horace Silver, Oscar Peterson and Jimmy Smith. Between 1958 and 1961 he lived in Copenhagen. In the early 1960s, he started recording with Charlie Byrd and then with Brazilian stars. Yeah? o Gilberto and António Carlos Jobim. These of his records evoked a fashion wave of bossa nova. Later, he preferred smaller jazz ensembles. He recorded intensively until the end of his life.
