Globalised India
Traditional India without foreign goods, cars and supermarkets has been transformed by globalisation. It has become the country with the highest ever economic growth and the world's fifth largest market. The middle class has become rich by leaps and bounds. Most children, including girls, go to school, women work and take a salary. However, social contrasts are deepening, with fifteen percent of the population living below the poverty line. The soil, water and air are contaminated with garbage and toxic fumes.
What has this new era brought to India and what has it taken away? How is India's material and spiritual culture changing, where is it going? To what extent does it give way to profit at all costs? Will India be preserved? But from what? The answer can be found in the book by the well-known reporter Pavla Jazairiová.
