Godspeed You! Black Emperor: F♯ A♯ ∞

LP Record Product information: This nine-piece band from Montreal doesn't shout its anger, but transforms it into sound. They are epically powerful and incredibly dynamic, alternating between melancholy, despair, and (powerless) rage. Implosions give way to explosions, and quiet phases are followed by the construction of huge walls of sound that immediately collapse again. Godspeed are careful with innovation. This time there are no tape recordings or spoken word fragments, but "Motherfucker = Redeemer" is the most rhythmic track in their history to date. Produced by the brilliant Steve Albini (Nirvana, Big Black, plus a thousand other bands) without changing their sound, there are not many who hold this man in such high regard.
