Dennis Lehane
One of America's best-loved authors not of mystery novels but of true crime novels. This descendant of Irish immigrants has always known he wanted to be a writer, but he also wrote the first draft of his book at the age of 25 out of boredom, but at that time it ended up in a drawer. Because Lehane still had to go through waiting tables, parking and driving limos, selling in bookstores, and advocating for abused children before he enrolled in a creative writing course and rewrote his first manuscript several times before it was finally accepted by a publisher and he became an unadulterated author.
The heroes of his popular Boston series are private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro, But after five episodes, the author wanted to try something new with them again, and thus the international bestseller The Secret River was born, which brought Lehane fame and prestige and the film adaptation of which.., directed by Clint Eastwood, won two Academy Awards.
After such a dizzying success, the author could afford to teach writing classes, which he had previously attended himself. He also joined the writing staff of the HBO crime series The Wire, for which he received the Edgar Award for Best Television Miniseries along with George Pelecanos and other creators. The fourth installment of the Kenzie/Gennaro Gone Baby Gone series was filmed in 2007, directed by Ben Affleck.
