Gott Karel: For Love I Burn Candles (2x CD) - CD

The double album offers an extraordinary dose - over 40 in total - of songs by our unrivalled most successful singer of all time.

The collection of arching cantilena and love ballads opens with the title track, a blue-eyed soul from the repertoire of the American The Righteous Brothers. But you will also find famous musicals, operetta, and operatic themes (Cats, Miss Saigon, Land of smiles, Paganini, Rose Marie or Love Potion) as well as cover versions of fellow Hall of Famers Julio Iglesias, Maria Lanza, Barry Ryan or Elton John. However, the proportion of home-made songs written especially for Gott is crucial. Contributors Karel Svoboda, Ladislav Štaidl, Jiří Zmožek, Petr Hapka,. Ondřej Soukup or Bohuslav Ondráček.

In this excellent repertoire, Lucie Bílá, Eva Urbanová, Dara Rolins and Kamil Střihavka are guests with Karel Gott. It's no ordinary selection: Karel Gott proves in his beautiful melodic songs that this has always been his specialty, and this over a time span of four decades.
