Gott, Karel: Láska je nádhera (Dotek lásky 2) - CD

The second part of Gott's grand tribute to classic world pop!
Following the success of Gott's 2012 versions of world pop songs, a sequel was released in 2013 featuring songs primarily from the sixties and seventies. It includes many melodic ballads, but also a welcome invigoration in the form of rhythmic, and even dance, tracks.
These include To byla noc (originally by The 4 Seasons), V pravou chvíli řekni Stop (Loggins's Footloose), Zmizely stíny (Nash's reggae hit I Can See Clearly Now), and Odcházím s vírou (Steinman's Holding Out For A Hero, recorded here for the first time with Zdeněk Rytíř's lyrics from 1985). As fate would have it, this last song was recorded during the very October days of Rytíř's final farewell.

Karel Gott has an understandable weakness for melodies with soaring choruses, often masterfully crafted by overseas composers. Neil Diamond (Rád bych vstoupil do tvých snů), Roy Orbison (the title track Láska je nádhera), and Burt Bacharach (S tebou žít) certainly belong in this category. But you'll also find some unexpected surprises here: it wasn't until this year that Gott indulged in hits from the repertoires of the famous Aerosmith and the rather forgotten Gary Puckett & The Union Gap.

Some of the lyrics you'll hear were previously written by Jiřina Fikejzová, Eduard Pergner, or Zdeněk Borovec for other Czech artists, but many songs were given new words. Hana Sorrosová, Miroslav Černý, and Miloš Skalka helped tailor this globally proven repertoire to make it current and distinctly Czech for the singer.
