Gott Karel: White Christmas - LP

Karel Gott-White Christmas / Gott's second Christmas album, even after 40 years of festive pleasure

After Christmas in Golden Prague (1969), Karel Gott recorded another similarly themed album at the beginning of the last eight decade. The previous one offered folk carols from all over the world and suitable artificial songs, proven by centuries. This reissue retains the uniqueness of its intention, but it is also based on more modern trends; after all, it is named after probably the most famous American song of the genre, namely White Christmas. The first seven songs are focused in this way, the other ten are again either old European or more often Czech folk carols and songs. Another decoration is Wanting him to sleep, a famous theme by Adam Michna from Otradovice. Accompanied by Ladislav Staidl's Orchestra, but also by the choirs of Bambini di Praga and Pavel Kühn, the music was created above the usual pop production, forever fitting perfectly under the Christmas tree. The nine bonus tracks on the CD represent a thematic and temporal expansion from 1972 to 2020, bringing both other world and domestic songs of various new compositions, but also the classic Silent Night, a duet with Lucie Bílá, Christmas Time with Lucie Vondráčková and Angelica with her daughter Charlotte Ella. The very last bonus is quite extraordinary: Richard Krajc's Vánoční was released a year after Gott's death on the Kryštof album and in a way it closes not only this holiday listening.
Tracklist: White Christmas / Days of gifts and wishes / Your tree (Blue Christmas) / By Christmas candles / Our first Christmas / Tomorrow the tree will shine / The return / Wise reconciliation (O Sanctissima) / Christmas Eve has come / I bring you the newspaper / I would like to go to Bethlehem / Shepherds, Arise / Brothers, I have heard / How beautiful you are, little innocent / He was born out of love for us (Gloria) / Wanting him to sleep / On that miraculous night (Es ist ein Rose entsprüngen)
