The legendary rock group from San Francisco was formed in 1965 and is one of the key representatives of the golden age of rock music. At the turn of the sixties and seventies, they became famous for their long and wild improvisations during live performances.
In their work, they drew on influences from a wide variety of musical styles, from rock and psychedelia, through folk and bluegrass, to gospel, jazz and even reggae. They disbanded in 1995 after the death of the group's leader, guitarist and singer Jerry Garcia. In 2007, the group received a Grammy for lifetime achievement.
