Yrsa Sigurðardóttir (1963) is a world-renowned Icelandic author of crime and thriller literature. In 2005, she published her first crime novel, Last Rituals (Metafora, 2007), which immediately earned her the nickname “Queen of Nordic Noir” and marked the beginning of her award-winning series featuring lawyer Thóra Gudmundsdóttir. She cemented her position as one of today's best crime authors with a series of standalone thrillers, which have been translated into more than 30 languages, and especially with her 2014 novel DNA (Metafora, 2017), the first instalment in a loose series featuring child psychologist Freyja and detective Huldar. This was followed a year later by the second instalment, The Reckoning (Metafora, 2018), and then the third, The Absolution (Metafora Grada, 2019).
