Guardianship of persons with mental disorders

The issue of guardianship of adults is becoming an important subject of interest for society at home and worldwide. The increased interest in this issue is due to the growing number of persons over the age of 18 who have been deprived of their legal capacity by the courts or restricted in their legal capacity due to a mental disorder. Carers are a specific population group, characterised by the fact that their carers make decisions for them. The exercise of guardianship and the care of persons under guardianship has not yet received systematic attention in the Czech Republic. The authors therefore focus on the implementation of guardianship of adults in practice and present trends for the future development of guardianship in the Czech Republic. The intention of the book is to contribute to improving the quality of health and social care for adults with mental disorders.
