Gutiérrez Ivan: Madera - CD

The first solo album from the guitarist best known for his collaboration with Zuzana Navarová, with whom he recorded brilliant albums such as 'Skleněná vrba' and 'Zelené album'.

His band Madera (Spanish for 'wood', but also figuratively referring to a person's potential or what gives them character) features Tadeáš Mesany, Jana Modráčková, Dudu Morais, Ivana Pokorná, Julián Teubal and others. The music can be described as urban folk. The band draws from sources similar to Silvio Rodríguez (nueva cancion, nueva trova), Tom Waits, Gilberto Gil (and not just bossa nova), Thomas Fersen (chanson francaise), and Zuzana Navarová. The final result isn't folklore that refers to a single geographical culture, but rather to the mix found in various big cities where people from all over the world meet.
