H. Ch. Andersen.

Writer Hans Christian Andersen wakes up the characters in his study. He talks to them about what they have in common with humans and vice versa. The antique figures are sad about how little time people have in the world and how much they waste without realizing it. When the writer leaves, the chimney sweep and the shepherdess Caroline begin to talk to each other in a different way than they have been talking before. They're having a conversation about love. But the perpetually angry sergeant interjects. He wants the granddaughter of the venerable mandarin to marry him. She was engaged to him. And the sergeant on the sideboard is carved from the rarest mahogany wood. However, the shepherdess Caroline decides to run away with the chimney sweep and hide on the roof for her love. They watch the stars, the sea and the whole wide world together. But then the shepherdess misses her room, her home. Can both characters come back? And how's the wedding going to turn out?
