Handel, Georg Friedrich: HANDEL Alcina Curtis (3x CD) - CD

Alan Curtis is currently considered one of the best connoisseurs of Baroque opera; his great advantage is the exceptional feeling for finding the best singers for individual roles, which he proved by casting Joyce DiDonato in the role of Alcina' s heroin.

Unlike “established“ soprano singers, iDonato is in this role, e. g. Sutherland or Battle, a mezzo-soprano, and is admired especially for her brilliant voice guidance (but she is also “seconded“ by other singers of this recording, e. g. Maite Beaumont or Karina Gauvin).
