Hapka / Horacek: In the Pension World (Reissue 2021) - CD

Composer Petr Hapka and lyricist Michal Horáček prepared ten songs, found ideal singers for them, accompanied by a luxurious studio orchestra. The result is an exceptional work, with melodies by the already famous Hapka and lyrics by the up-and-coming Horáček, giving vocalists of several generations the opportunity to perform. Filmed between 1984 and 1988, in more relaxed conditions, allowing the use of not mainstream Hana Hegerova, selective Michael Kocáb or alternative Richard Müller. The surprise was Hapka as a singer, but also the guest Hana Zagorova. The band includes guitarists Michal Pavlíček and Ondrej Šeban, bassist Vladimír Kulhanek, percussionist Alan Vitouš, violinist Jan Hruby and saxophonist Štěpán Markovič. This instrumental extravaganza was boosted by technological changes in Supraphon's recording studios, and benefited from the sound mixing of Englishman Simon Heyworth. All in all, a perfectly used starting point for the creation of an album that belongs to the best of our modern popular music. It's not listening for the first signal system, and yet it generated several songs that are still frequently broadcast and listened to today, hits if you will. Recall Happiness is a Beautiful Thing, With a Stranger in a Strange Room, or Old Age for All. In the CD version you will get 8 co-written bonuses in a similar spirit and quality.
