Happiness for Two - DVD

The film follows the phenomenal success of the musical comedy Merry Misery, which also starred singer Jarmila Kšírová.

The story is about the operetta subrette Sona Jansova, who has to hide the fact that she is married and has a four-year-old daughter. Her husband acts as her lawyer in public and when one day their daughter Eva disappears, the truth comes out and surprisingly it is not the disaster everyone expected.

In addition to the main characters, the film also features several episodic figures, of which the police commissioner, played by Jindřich Plachta, is the one who catches the viewer's attention the most. The success of this film at the Film Harvest Festival in the summer of 1940, where Happiness for Two won a prestigious award, was certainly due, in addition to the good script and direction, to Josef Stelibsky's music and the aforementioned hit Prague is Beautiful.
