Harries James: The Straight Street Session - CD

The Straight Street Session, the second album by guitarist and singer James Harries, captures a happy meeting between an English author and performer of unheard of emotional songs with Czech jazzmen, pianist Emil Viklický and double bass player Petr Dvorský. This exceptional album sounds like the best pop-jazz recordings from the fifties - after all, the print of the disc is reminiscent of good old vinyl. It clearly differs from the vast majority of contemporary music production by the sober instrumentation and peculiarity of the unusually rich expression of the international acoustic trio. It offers listeners a real musical adventure without Harries' s statement losing the outline of well-arranged songs.
