Health talks

We only get one life, so it's natural to be concerned about our health and how it's managed by the institutions we pay for – medical facilities. The media sometimes tries to convince us that everything in the Czech healthcare system is broken, predominantly selecting negative or even alarming news in an effort to grab attention, shock, and sometimes even manipulate the public. But nothing in the world is black and white. We confirmed this in interviews with ten top experts from various medical fields – from diabetology, endocrinology, and rheumatology to neurology, cardiology, and radiodiagnostics, all the way to surgery and military medicine. Lukáš Pollert, a generation younger, also brings a fresh perspective to the book.

We approached outstanding authorities in these fields and asked them dozens of questions, some of which are woven throughout the entire book. Each of the interviewed doctors answers them a little differently, providing further testimony to the diversity and depth of the world of medicine. Other questions go directly to the specifics of individual specialities, attempting to shed some light on the place they occupy on the healthcare map – with special consideration for what we can do for our own health in that particular area.

The book is thus a remarkable testament to the state of our healthcare system, a collection of fascinating opinions from personalities who have something important to say. However, it will serve just as well for anyone who wants to learn about current medical trends and predictions, and how to stay healthy – which is undoubtedly the goal for all of us.
