Heart of the Sahara

Thousands of years ago, before it became a desert, the Sahara was a blooming paradise. Something survived from those times, deep beneath its sands, stony plains, and arid rocks. Something bloody and terrifying.

From research into the wood of ancient Japanese cedars and Antarctic ice sheets, scientists have discovered that in 775 AD, a catastrophe of cosmic proportions occurred that could have wiped humanity off the face of the Earth. But we are still here. And no one knows what really happened then.

Denis Scott and his girlfriend Alyson are traveling to Morocco to film a documentary. Against their will, they are manipulated into a dangerous hunt for a miraculous artifact hidden deep in the Sahara by the ancient Berber civilization of the Garamantes, which had the power to destroy entire armies. Hot on their heels are dangerous mercenaries serving a powerful multinational organization led by a mysterious Spaniard, a man with a troubled past who is determined to complete his mission at any cost. However, they do not only face purely human dangers. Standing in their way are the inhospitable Sahara, sandstorms, salt lakes and the ghostly Kel Hadjels, deadly creatures from Tuareg legends. Moreover, Denis discovers that he can' t trust anyone. Not even best friends. Will they be the first to find the artifact? And won' t some pay the highest price for it?
