Heavenly Rose
An investigation into a burglary in a medieval monastery setting
The noble maiden Svatava of Deblín arrives at the Premonstratensian convent of Rosa coeli to become a novice. She was supposed to get married, but her father had a falling out with her fiancé's family and sent his daughter to the monastery instead. In the convent, Svatava learns to read and write and also gets to know Mlada Přemyslovna, the daughter of the deceased Bohemian Duke Wenceslas II. However, the peacefully flowing days are disturbed by two soldiers who break into the monastery. Although the male staff neutralise both robbers, it soon becomes clear that this is no ordinary burglary, and the judge of the Brno province, Lev of Klobouky, takes over the investigation. The robbers belonged to the retinue of Margrave Vladislaus Henry, brother of King Přemysl Otakar I.
