Hegerová Hana: The Shy Guest - LP

Hegerová Hana: The Shy Guest - LP
Music by Hapka, lyrics by Horáček, vocals by Hegerová.
Three names that guarantee successful quality.
This 1987 album is a superb entry in the discography of Hana Hegerová, who at the time had been at the pinnacle of Czechoslovak popular music for almost three decades.
Misters Hapka and Horáček wrote twelve songs specifically for her, with their unmistakable melodies and lyrics, which the singer transformed into little musical gems. Some of them became hits in the truest sense of the word.
Alongside the irresistible Levandulová (Lavender), Denim Blue and Vana plná fialek (A Bathtub Full of Violets) are also evergreens, at the very least, while all the other songs contribute to creating a perfectly cohesive album. It featured a number of outstanding young musicians, some from seemingly different stylistic backgrounds. Saxophonist Štěpán Markovič, violinist Jan Hrubý, keyboardist Zdeněk Zdeněk, guitarist Michal Pavlíček, and bassist Vladimír Kulhánek were more easily associated with rock or jazz, but here they helped create a tastefully modern mainstream sound.
With this, Hana Hegerová made a wonderful leap forward in time and gained new listeners without losing any of her traditional chanson intensity. This reissue has been given a fresh remastering.
The CD version includes seven bonus tracks. All feature music by Petr Hapka, with lyrics provided by Michal Horáček, as well as Pavel Vrba, Zdeněk Rytíř, Pavel Kopta, and Jaroslav Seifert.
