Helena Albertová, Pavel Landovský: Landák
The memoirs of the actor Pavel Landovský (read by Michal Pavlata), which he wrote together with his wife Helena Albertová, are as peculiar a testimony to the life and acting of this unmissable personality of Czech theatre as he is peculiar himself. They are written with a tremendous looseness, the actor seemingly jumping from one topic to another without any deeper conception, using language and expressions that are far from written Czech, but without these devices his memoirs would lack authenticity and conviction. Pavel Landovský recalls his boyhood years, next of kin, the way to the theater, first professional stint in Šumperk, a little later in Klatovy, to meet Václav Havel, for trouble and mischief, for the firings, to sign Charter 77, but also his dramas, that he started writing in the '60s. Later, also on his emigration. It's a dramatic, masculine narrative, full of humorous insight, but at the same time harsh openness and honesty.
