Hellboy (Ron Perlman) was summoned to Earth during World War II by the mad Grigori Rasputin (Karel Roden) to become a messenger of the apocalypse. However, he was rescued from the clutches of a dangerous criminal by the founder of the secret Office for the Research of Paranormal Phenomena (OJ. IN. P. J. ) Professor Broom (John Hurt), who then raised him as his own son and helped him develop his exceptional abilities.

Despite his dark origins, Hellboy became one of the good fighters. In OJ IN. P. J. HELLBOY became part of a special family, which in addition to him and Broom also includes the telepathic “sea man“ Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and the charming Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) who has the ability to pyrokinesis. Together, they form the main line of defense against Rasputin, who wants to get Hellboy back into his power and use his powers to unleash armageddon.
