Her Doctor - DVD

Vlasta Janatová is the daughter of a big landowner (Jindřich Plachta) who loves the successful and rich painter Pavel Hodura (Hugo Haas). However, her mother (Antonie Nedošinská) hates the painter; she once had a big disappointment with one, so she can't have one in her eyes anymore. Hodura would like to marry Vlasta, but he is afraid to visit her parents; Moreover, her mother wants to marry Vlasta off to her neighbour Kudláček. During a visit to the Janatas, Vlasta's friend Jarmila introduces Hodura as a doctor and her husband. A series of other confusions and comical situations follow before the lovers finally become official fiancés.
The theme of impersonation is more than common in First Republic films, but Hugo Haas is certainly one of the masters of this field. The central trio Haas - Baarová - Nedošinská is perfectly complemented by the great Jindřich Plachta and the pleasantly distracted Ludvík Veverka.
