His daughter
Everything seems perfect, apart from one little catch
Livia is an Italian living in New York, where she works as a freelance translator. After a few failed relationships, she meets Arno. Everything seems perfect, apart from one little catch – his young daughter, Emma. As soon as he introduces her to Livia, their relationship is no longer just about them: the little girl's needs and dramas usurp all their time and space. For Livia, who has never felt any maternal instincts, understanding a child's world is very difficult; no matter how hard she tries, she sees only malice in Emma's behaviour. What's more, she completely disagrees with her (lack of) upbringing. It's not just Emma's spoilt nature that drives the protagonist mad, but also Arno's lukewarm attitude towards his daughter's outbursts, as it makes her see him in an unfavourable light. Whether she likes it or not, Livia begins to see her partner's daughter as a rival with whom she must fight an unequal battle for Arno's attention.
