Hope in History

This book of interviews with the well-known historian, theologian and Catholic priest Tomáš Petráček connects a number of worlds. Petráček’s reflections on history and historicity are intertwined with his reflections on contemporary Christianity and the Catholic Church, as well as society as a whole. For him, the study of history is first and foremost the key to understanding how we arrived at our current situation, but it is also a source of inspiration and hope that human effort, open to cooperation with God's grace, can transform the world. In the interview, the reader has the opportunity to learn about the roots of Petráček's spiritual and social attitudes, to meet the personalities who shaped him, and to gain insight into the canonisation process of the priest Josef Toufar.
