How to believe in fairies
The latest novel from the author of the bestseller The Map of Time.
London, 1922. Alan and Violet Schofield are the greatest specialists in magical photography in England. They eagerly cater to the widespread desire in London society to photograph supernatural beings, a craze that began after two girls from Cottingley managed to convince Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself that they had photographed fairies. After the First World War, their commissions are pouring in. Everyone wants a photograph that will prove to others that their land or garden is inhabited by one of these mysterious beings.
However, the Schofields' luck turns when shadows from the past enter their lives, and they are forced to convince the fearsome Percival Drake, a cunning and ruthless man who vehemently rejects anything magical, of the existence of fairies. And so, Alan and Violet embark on a dangerous enterprise to save their lives.
