Hunter
Things happen in the Irish backwoods. The men of the village are possessed by a gold rush!
No sooner have the residents of Ardnakelta got used to their new neighbour in the form of a retired Chicago cop, than there is already another commotion in the village. From bustling London, the renowned flunky Johnny Reddy has returned to his summer-heat-dried hometown, unstoppable even by his wife and a bunch of kids. Not surprisingly, he's not exactly welcomed with open arms at home, especially by his fifteen-year-old daughter Trey, who has since found the missing paternal authority in the soft-spoken but kind and patient Cal Hooper. The eloquent returnee has a slightly easier time with the men in the pub, on whom he unloads unexpected news after a few rounds and shirtless stories from the big city. A wealthy Englishman with Irish roots, for whom he works, is said to want to prospect for gold in the area, about which a few stories circulated long ago. And he hatched a plan to make sure everyone could cash in on the gullible millionaire, even if he didn't happen to find any wealth with them. Eventually Cal joins the profiteering old-timers, fearing Johnny's influence on his ward, and Trey herself, who is again driven by a desire for revenge. Will fortune smile on any of them, or will they all cry over their earnings?
The sequel to the successful Stalker brings another story with a burnt-out American detective who, although he didn't get the peace he wanted in the West of Ireland, found a new home there. And loved ones he'd do anything for...
