This novel, like the previous ones, is a historically faithful and readable description of the criminal cases from the First Republic, which were solved by the legendary gendarmerie search party from Písek, headed by Staff Captain Votruba and his crew, in the difficult times of the 1930s. The area of the Písek gendarmerie search station then extended to Sušice and it is true, that the sand gallery, and not just her, then, in times of economic crisis, ...the gendarmes were getting a lot of heat. About a well-known cashiering firm, the landowner, the "chief", apartment dwellers, little thieves, but also the light women of the brothels, hookers off the street, there was no shortage of hoodlums or murderers.
